Peter Coutts has been selected by the NHBC in its annual Pride in the Job 2023 Quality Awards, celebrating the best UK site managers and their commitment to raising standards in housebuilding.

Out of more than 8,000 entrants across the UK, only 444 were selected as Quality winners, NHBC said, which showed they were “among the country’s best housebuilders”.

Peter is Senior Site Manager at Square Roots Kingston, which is 100 per cent affordable homes scheme currently under construction by London Square, acting as development manager for Square Roots, an independent Registered Provider of affordable homes for rent and for shared ownership. The site has been operational since 2021, with first occupations due this summer.

Peter joined the company two years ago to work on the Kingston site and when this is finished, he will be moving to another Square Roots site in Kingston.

I am thrilled to win this award. We have a great team working on Square Roots Kingston and this is excellent news for everyone on site.

Adam Lawrence, Chief Executive of London Square

This is an outstanding achievement by Peter in the Pride in the Job Quality Awards and reflects his commitment and London Square’s focus on best practice and the highest safety standards on our sites.

The Pride in the Job awards have been running for 43 years and are recognised as one of the most highly regarded in the housebuilding industry, providing a prestigious benchmark for exceptional site managers.

The current competition began in July last year, with each site manager assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety. Thousands of site inspections and meticulous scoring and verifications were undertaken by the NHBC.

The Quality Award winners will now go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards in the autumn. The competition culminates in the national Supreme Award winners, which will be revealed in January 2024.

Steve Wood, NHBC’s Chief Executive

Congratulations to all the winners who should feel proud to have received a Pride in the Job Award. Pride in the Job is firmly at the heart of NHBC’s mission to raise standards in the housebuilding industry.

“It is important we recognise the vital role site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites and to exacting construction quality standards. This accolade recognises the best site managers across the UK and celebrates how much all the winners have inspired their teams by going the extra mile to deliver homes of the highest quality.
