Fire Safety

Our priority is keeping your home safe for you and your family. Fire safety for your block is normally carried out by your management company, and looked after by a specialist. This explains what we do and what you can do to keep you as safe if a fire does occur.

Checks and inspections carried out on your behalf

  • Carry out an annual comprehensive Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) of all blocks of flats.
  • Fire signage are displayed in communal areas
  • Regularly inspect your block to ensure it is safe. This includes ensuring escape routes are clear and items are removed from communal areas that may pose a fire risk.
  • Regularly inspect your fire doors to ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Ensure you receive any updates on any fire issues.
  • Provide support to those who may need help by agreeing a personal emergency evacuation plan (PEEP).

How to stay safe

  • Test all smoke detectors in your home, at least weekly. If it doesn’t work, get in touch
  • Keep communal halls, balconies and escape routes clear of any obstructions, this includes buggies, plants, and furniture. Report (link to get in touch) any obstructions.
  • Communal doors are fire doors, keep them fully closed, do not tamper with self-closing devices and report any faults or damage immediately.
  • Familiarise yourself and everyone in your home with any fire safety signage in your block, and any information provided to you.
  • Do not leave candles or cooking food unattended.
  • Do not smoke in any internal communal area.

Fire doors

Fire doors keep you safe in the event of a fire. Your fire doors will be the communal doors in the block and the front entrance door to your flat. Please ensure that:

  • Fire doors remain closed- fire doors prevent the spread of fire and smoke, but they only work if they are fully closed. Do not prop doors open.
  • Fire doors (including self-closers) are not tampered with – this could make a fire door ineffective.
  • If you see that a fire door is damaged – please report it immediately by calling 0333 666 0102.
